This is a great way to save your old Apples that have turned wrinkly and spongy. Of course, you can cook fresh ones. Since I started cooking Broccoli in a frying pan using the steam-fry method, I am cooking many things in the same way. The frying pan method works for savoury Vegetables, why not for sweet Fruit?
Ingredients
2 Apples *Not-so-great Apples are perfectly suitable!
1/2 cup Water *plus extra if requied
1 tablespoon Sugar *optional
Method
Wash Apples, remove the core and cut into wedges. Today I cut each Apple into 12 wedges. Arrange them in a non-stick frying pan in a single layer, so that you won’t need to stir or toss them.
Add Water, sprinkle with Sugar (if you add it), cover with a lid, and cook over medium low heat for 10 to 15 minutes or until water is gone. If Apple is not soft enough, add extra Water and cook for extra minutes. *Note: Some Apples get soft very quickly. You need to add less Water. After Water is gone, you can keep cooking until Apple is slightly caramelised. Enjoy the pan-stewed Apple with Cream, Ice Cream OR Custard. You can add it to Cereal or Porridge.
