Garlic Shoots are the long stems that grow out of the Garlic bulb. Obviously they smell like Garlic and have pleasant crunchy texture. I often stir-fry Garlic Shoots with Beef or Pork, but I know many people, particularly non-Asian people, are not familiar with this vegetable. This is a very simple stir-fry you can try.
Makes
2 Servings
Ingredients
1 bunch Garlic Shoots *150g
1 teaspoon Oil
120g Bacon *cut into bite-size pieces
Salt & Black Pepper
Method
Wash Garlic Shoots, trim off the tough ends, and cut into 4-5cm pieces. Cut Bacon rashers into bite-size pieces.Heat Oil in a frying pan over medium heat, cook Bacon pieces until nicely browned, add Garlic Shoots, stir-fry for 2-3 minutes OR until cooked, season lightly with Salt as Bacon is salty, and add some Black Pepper if you like it, then stir to combine.*Note: Garlic Shoots can be pre-cooked. Just blanch in salted water in a saucepan, drain well, then add to Bacon. This way you can keep the bright green colour as you don’t need to stir-fry for long.
