Chicken Tofu Patties Recipe | Japanese Recipes




Chicken and Tofu patties

This recipe is uses ground chicken and tofu, so it is very light and low in calories. Tofu is much cheaper than meat in Japan, so I use that often to save money on food.

Yield: 4 patties

Time: 35 minutes

Ingredients

3/4 lb ground chicken
1 package of soft tofu (3/4lb)
1 can of tomatoes
5 mushrooms (sliced)
1/2 onion (chopped)
1 egg (beaten)

Spices for chicken patty

1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp garlic (ground)
2 tbsp flour

Spices for sauce

1 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp ketchup
2 tsp chicken bouillon powder
1 cup water

Preparation

Wrap tofu in a paper towel, microwave for 90 seconds then pat dry with a fresh paper towel.
Mix tofu, ground chicken, onion, egg, salt, sugar, garlic and flower in a bowl and knead.
Divide and roll out four patties. (The patties are very soft, so take care while grilling)
Mix spices sauce in a bowl (ketchup, soy sauce, soy sauce, chicken powder and water)
Add about 1/2″ oil to a frying pan, then transfer patties and cook for 3 minutes over hight heat
Flip over, add mushrooms (see pic), then cook for 3 minutes over medium heat
Add tomato sauce, cover with lid, and simmer for 15 minutes over medium heat
