2 cups frozen strawberries
1/2 cup frozen blackberries
1/2 cup (4 oz) silver tequila
2-3 tbsp (1-1.5 oz) agave nectar or simple syrup, to taste
1/4 cup (2 oz) freshly squeezed lime juice (from about 2-3 limes)

How to Make It

To make this frozen berry margarita, simply add all the ingredients to a high-powered blender and blend until smooth and slushy. If needed, add a few ice cubes to thicken it up. The frozen berries should keep it nice and cold.

Pour the blended margarita into glasses. For an optional garnish, rub a lime wedge around the rim of the glass and dip it in coarse sugar or salt. Garnish with fresh strawberries and blackberries if desired.

This recipe makes 2 generous servings, but you can easily double or triple it for a crowd. If making a larger batch, you may need to blend it in batches depending on your blender size.

Variations

Feel free to customize this margarita with your favorite berries. Raspberries or blueberries would also be delicious. For a sweeter drink, add a bit more agave. For a tarter, more lime-forward flavor, reduce the agave. You can also use frozen limeade concentrate in place of the lime juice and sweetener.

Tips for the Best Margaritas

Use a good quality, 100% agave silver tequila for the cleanest flavor
Blend the margarita until no chunks of fruit remain for the smoothest consistency
If you prefer your drinks on the rocks, blend the margarita without ice, then pour it over ice in the glasses
Chill the glasses in the freezer for 10 minutes before serving to keep the drinks colder
Make a large batch to serve a crowd and set out optional garnishes so guests can customize their drinks

Using frozen fruit is a great shortcut that eliminates the need for ice and ensures your cocktail is perfectly cold and slushy every time. Keeping bags of frozen fruit on hand makes whipping up an impromptu batch of margaritas a breeze.
