The plan this evening was to make a full on meal, complete with the brand new Ikura roe, some eel, fish, and scallops. I prepared a meal for three people. Luckily, our appetites were not quite as pronounced as in the past. Five regular rolls were enough, but I also made three battleship rolls, three tuna nigiri, and a pressed tuna roll. We also opened a bottle of some sweet sake of the fruity kind. I’m not terribly fond of sake, but I did have a little bit.
So let’s get started.
The sushi rolls I made were as follows.
1. Tuna/Salmon with cucumber and avocado
2. Salmon with cucumber and avocado
3. Scallop with green Marconi pepper and a sesame oil/wasabi mayonnaise
4. Two Modified Dragon Rolls – Eel, imitation crab, cucumber, and sesame oil/wasabi mayo, drizzled with eel sauce
5. Three Salmon Roe Battleship Rolls
6. Three Tuna Nigiri
7. Tuna oshizushi – Tuna with chopped cucumber and salmon roe served on kombu seaweed.
8. Tuna sashimi

The sake was a gift. It was a bottle of Momokawa Pearl, a fruity flavored sake which still has quite a bit of bite to it. I did not particularly enjoy this sake, but I suppose it was better than the much more dry Diamond label from the same company.
