Event: Demo and Book Signing at Kodomo No Matsuri
I feel awful for once again disappearing into the blog void after coming back last Halloween, but I have a good excuse, I swear! That excuse is… A new cookbook! Yup, that’s right! Maki and I are teaming up again to do a sequel to Yum-Yum Bento Box, and right after Halloween was when we started working on the book. We were on a really rough timeline, and with work and the holidays, I just lost all my time to blog. The book will hopefully be released by the end of the year, and I’m super excited about this one, as Maki and I have tons of great new designs (and maybe some new ones you saw on here…
EVENT: Cheese Drawing and Cute Sandwich Tutorial at Kaimuki Public Library
If you live in the Honolulu area, I’ll be doing an event this coming Sunday at the Kaimuki Public Library from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. The demo itself will be pretty quick. I’ll show people the basics on how to cut out and make characters with cheese, then apply nori. After that, it’ll mostly be a hands-on, have-tons-of-fun session where you get to make your own! I believe the event will be in the downstairs meeting room, but I’ve never been down there, so if you’re not sure either, it’s best to head to the front desk first and ask for…
Easter Bento Demo Tomorrow at Celebrations
Tomorrow I will be at the Celebrations store in Mapunapuna (next to Ben Franklin) to do an Easter bento demonstration. I will be demonstrating 4 bentos and signing copies of Yum-Yum Bento Box afterwards. I will do two sets of demos at 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM. Hope to see you there! To market, to market
On May 19th I’ll be participating in the Sunday market at Serendipity Cafe here in Chigasaki. I’ve decided to make hummus and flat bread. I haven’t decided the exact flavors of hummus but I’m thinking Moroccan spice, texmex and something Indian. Serendipity Cafe is my favorite place to hang out here in Chigasaki. The owners, Mabo and Lisa, have build a great community and host events run by members of that community. I’m running a hummus workshop there next month. If you come to Chigasaki I highly recommend checking out Serendipity Cafe. If you are in the area, I would love to see you at the market a week Sunday.
